Clindamycin 300 mg. (Capsules)

Clindamycin is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria in the body. It may be prescribed alone, in combination with other antibiotics, or when other medications have been ineffective.

1) Precautions Before Using Clindamycin: Do not use Clindamycin in individuals with the following conditions :

• Allergy to Clindamycin or other Lincosamide antibiotics

Tell your dentist before taking Clindamycin if you:

• Have ever had colitis or severe diarrhea after taking an antibiotic.
• Have liver or kidney disease.
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding.

 2)  How to use the medication:

• Take Clindamycin as directed by a doctor. 
• Take this medicine exactly as your dentist prescribed. The dose, how often to take it and for how many days are printed on your medicine label. Do not take more than prescribed.
• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is close to the time of your next dose, do not double the dose.

 3) Precautions while using the medication:

• Avoid alcohol consumption while using Clindamycin
• Inform the doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medications.
• Do not exceed the prescribed dosage.
• Keep out of reach of children.

4) Potential risks from the medication:

• Common side effects: gastrointestinal issues such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and skin rash.
• Serious side effects: allergic reactions, swelling of the face, difficulty breathing, rapid heartbeat, low blood pressure.
• Risk of superinfection.
• If you get severe or watery diarrhea, diarrhea with blood or mucus, severe stomach cramps or a fever, while taking this medicine or in the weeks after finishing it, stop taking it and contact the clinic or a doctor straight away. Do not take anti-diarrhea medicine on your own.

5) How to store the medication:

• Store at room temperature.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Store in a tightly closed container.
