Amoxicillin ( 500 mg ) (Capsule)
Amoxicillin is a penicillin-class antibiotic used to treat infections caused by bacteria. It is commonly prescribed for infections in the respiratory tract, ears, throat, nose, and skin.
1) Precautions Before Using Amoxicillin: Do not use Amoxicillin 500 mg if you have any of the following conditions:
- Allergy to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics
- Epstein-Barr virus infection
- Myasthenia gravis
- Hemolytic anemia
2) How to use the medication:
- Take Amoxicillin 500 mg as directed by a doctor.
- Take it three times a day: morning, afternoon, and evening.
- Take with food.
- Adults: 250 – 500 mg every 8 hours or 500 – 875 mg every 12 hours.
- Children weighing less than 40 kg: 40 – 90 mg/kg/day divided into 2 – 3 doses, up to a maximum of 3 g/day.
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is close to the time of your next dose, do not double the dose
3) Precautions while using the medication:
- Avoid alcohol consumption while using Amoxicillin 500 mg.
- Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medications.
- Do not exceed the prescribed dosage.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Continue taking this medication daily until the prescribed course is completed, even if symptoms improve, to prevent antibiotic resistance.
4) Potential risks from the medication:
- Common side effects: diarrhea, nausea, headache, vomiting, rash.
- Serious side effects: allergic reactions, difficulty breathing, rapid heartbeat, low blood pressure.
- Risk of superinfection.
