Transamin 250 mg. (Capsules)

Transamin contains tranexamic acid, approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA). It is a synthetic derivative of the amino acid lysine and works by inhibiting the breakdown of blood clots. It is commonly used to treat conditions such as oral bleeding, post-surgical bleeding, bleeding in childbirth, and abnormal menstrual bleeding.

1) Precautions Before Using Transamin: Use Transamin with caution in individuals with the following conditions:

  • Kidney disease
  • Liver disease
  • Stroke
  • Blood clots
  • Pregnancy
  • Children under 1 year old
  • Transamin may cause drowsiness, so refrain from driving, operating machinery, or engaging in risky activities. If menstrual bleeding persists for more than 2 cycles or symptoms do not improve, discontinue use and consult a doctor.

 2)  How to use the medication:

  • Children: 25 mg per kg of body weight, 2-3 times a day.
  • Adults: 1-1.5 grams, 2-3 times a day.
  • Dosage and duration of use depend on the advice of a doctor or pharmacist. Transamin can be taken before or after meals. If a dose is missed, no need to double the dose if close to the next scheduled dose.

 3) Precautions while using the medication:

  • Avoid using Transamin with other blood clotting medications.

4) Potential risks from the medication: Common side effects may include:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Muscle pain
  • Serious side effects may include blood clot formation.

5) How to store the medication:

  • Store between 25-30 degrees Celsius.
  • Keep it in a tightly closed container away from sunlight and moisture, and do not store it in the bathroom.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.
