Dental bridges in Chiang Mai

A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth with crowns joined together and fixed to the teeth or implants beside the gap. At Kitcha Dental Clinic, bridges are made by our ISO-certified partner laboratory and usually need two main visits.

Is this you?

  • You have a gap from one or more missing teeth and would like a fixed replacement.
  • The teeth on each side of the gap need crowns anyway, or are strong enough to support a bridge.
  • You do not want a removable denture.

A traditional bridge needs the teeth beside the gap to be shaped for crowns. An implant replaces a tooth without shaping its neighbors; your dentist explains both options.

Types of bridges

  • Traditional bridge

The replacement tooth is held by crowns on the teeth on both sides of the gap. The most common type.

  • Cantilever bridge

The replacement tooth is supported from one side only, for selected situations.

  • Maryland bridge

A ceramic replacement tooth with small wings bonded to the backs of the neighboring teeth, which need little or no shaping.

  • Implant-supported bridge

A bridge fixed onto implants, so several missing teeth can be replaced without one implant for every tooth.

Bridges can be made in zirconia, all-ceramic or porcelain fused to metal, like crowns. Your dentist recommends a type and material for your teeth and bite.

Would you like to compare a bridge and an implant?

Book a consultation. Your dentist checks the teeth beside the gap and the bone, and explains the options and fees before you decide.

What happens, and how many visits

  1. Examination and planning

X-rays and an impression or scan are taken. If a tooth needs to come out first, the area is usually left to heal for about two months before the bridge is made.

  2. Preparing the support teeth

The teeth beside the gap are shaped, a digital scan or impression is taken and temporary crowns are fitted.

  3. Making the bridge

The bridge is made by our ISO-certified partner laboratory. How long it takes depends on the type of bridge, the dentist treating you and public holidays; usually the bridge is fitted 3–5 days after the teeth are prepared.

  4. Fitting

The bridge is tried in, adjusted with you, cemented and your bite is checked.

Look after a bridge like your natural teeth, and clean carefully under the replacement tooth every day. Keeping the support teeth healthy is the most important part of making a bridge last.

Cost of a dental bridge

A traditional bridge is priced per unit: each crown and each replacement tooth counts as one unit, at the crown price for the material you choose. Crown and bridge prices are on our prices page. Bridges have a 1-year warranty on the restoration, terms apply.

Prices on our prices page are shown as ranges. Your final fee depends on what the examination finds, and may include additional items — such as a rubber dam or special materials — when your treatment needs them. Your dentist explains these before treatment.

Who treats you

Bridges are planned and fitted by our dentists, including dentists with postgraduate training in prosthodontics, the field of crowns, bridges and dentures.

Dental bridge FAQs

How many visits does a bridge take?

Usually two main visits: one to prepare the support teeth and one to fit the bridge, usually 3–5 days apart while the laboratory makes it, depending on the type of bridge, the dentist treating you and public holidays. If a tooth has to be removed first, the area usually heals for about two months before the bridge is made.

Should I choose a bridge or an implant?

A bridge uses the neighboring teeth for support, so it suits gaps where those teeth need crowns anyway. An implant replaces the tooth without shaping its neighbors but needs enough bone and more time. Your dentist explains which suits you.

How long does a bridge last?

It depends on your oral hygiene, habits and especially the health of the support teeth. Most older bridges are replaced because of decay or a loose support tooth, so cleaning under the bridge and regular check-ups matter.

How do I clean under a bridge?

Brush as usual, and clean under the replacement tooth every day with a floss threader, special floss or a small interdental brush. Your dentist or hygienist shows you how.

Is there a warranty on bridges?

Yes. Bridges have a 1-year warranty on the restoration, terms apply. It is used at our clinic in Chiang Mai, covers work done at the clinic only, and does not include travel, accommodation or treatment provided elsewhere.

How much does a dental bridge cost?

A traditional bridge is priced per unit, at the crown price for the material you choose, so a three-unit bridge costs three crown units. Crown and bridge prices are on our prices page, and your dentist confirms the number of units after the examination.

Tell us which teeth are missing and send a recent X-ray or photo if you have one. A coordinator replies in English or Thai and books a time with a dentist. Open every day, 09:00–20:00 (Thailand time).
