Dental sealants in Chiang Mai
A sealant is a thin coating painted into the grooves of the back teeth, where food and plaque collect and decay often starts. At Kitcha Dental Clinic, sealants are placed in one visit, usually without drilling or anesthesia.

Who sealants can help

- Children, soon after the first and second permanent molars come through.
- Baby teeth with deep grooves, when your dentist recommends it.
- Adults whose back teeth have no decay or fillings but have deep grooves.
Sealants reduce the risk of decay in the grooves but do not replace brushing, cleaning between the teeth and regular check-ups.
Due for a check-up?
Book a check-up and cleaning. Your dentist checks your teeth and gums and tells you if anything else needs attention before treatment.
What happens
Cleaning the grooves
The grooves of the tooth are cleaned and dried.
Preparing the surface
A conditioning gel is applied for a short time, then rinsed off and the tooth is dried again.
Sealing
The sealant is painted into the grooves and hardened with a curing light, and your bite is checked.
Sealants are checked at each check-up. If part of a sealant wears or comes off, it can be repaired or redone.
Cost of sealants
Sealants are priced per tooth. Your dentist confirms which teeth need them and the fee at the check-up, and the prices page lists our cleaning and prevention fees.
Prices on our prices page are shown as ranges. Your final fee depends on what the examination finds, and may include additional items — such as a rubber dam or special materials — when your treatment needs them. Your dentist explains these before treatment.
Sealant FAQs
When should my child have sealants?
Usually soon after the permanent molars come through: the first molars at around six and the second molars at around twelve. Your dentist checks the grooves at each visit.
Does getting a sealant hurt?
No drilling or injection is usually needed. The tooth is cleaned, a gel is applied and rinsed, and the sealant is painted on and hardened with a light.
How long do sealants last?
Sealants can last for years, but they can wear or come off. They are checked at each check-up and repaired or redone when needed.
Can adults have sealants?
Yes. Adults whose back teeth have deep grooves but no decay or fillings can benefit. Your dentist checks whether sealing would help.
Are sealants safe?
Sealants are widely used in dentistry for children and adults. If you or your child have an allergy to plastics or resins, tell your dentist before treatment.
How much do sealants cost?
Sealants are priced per tooth. Your dentist confirms which teeth need them and the fee at the check-up.
