Kitcha Dental Clinic works with a maxillofacial surgery consultant, together with our orthodontists, to assess and plan orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery cases. The surgery itself is performed in a hospital, not at the clinic — we handle the assessment, the orthodontic phase and the coordination around it.
Orthognathic surgery is corrective jaw surgery that aims to realign the jaw and correct related jaw abnormalities or skeletal deformities. It is a major treatment that requires planning before and after surgery across both the surgical and orthodontic teams.
Alongside the clinical and aesthetic result, patient safety is a priority. Sterilisation and infection-control procedures follow strict evidence-based guidelines throughout our treatment facilities, and the clinic holds TDCA 2403 Level 3 accreditation, passed in April 2026.

Treament Planning
Certain cases with malocclusion abnormalities that cannot be resolved by standard orthodontic treatment alone. Your orthodontist who are dental specialists that deals with the diagnosis, prevention and correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws will inform you of your various treatment options.
With any medical or dental treatment, a sound and proper treatment plan is the first step. Your dentist takes digital panoramic, cephalometric x-rays and an impression for study model. If you and your dentist decides that corrective jaw surgery is the appropriate and chosen treatment, a 3D CT Scan imaging is also taken. This is to enable further evaluation and planning of your case with the oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
An appointment is then arranged with your various dental specialists to confirm the treatment plan for orthognathic surgery. Pre jaw surgery dental treatments are planned and started.

Orthognathic Surgery
Before the day of surgery, your maxillofacial consultant discusses the surgical plan and anaesthesia with you. Orthognathic surgery usually takes one to three hours and is performed under general anaesthesia in a hospital, which carries the risks associated with any major procedure. Kitcha Dental Clinic does not perform this surgery on site.
A health check is carried out beforehand to confirm you are fit for surgery. Risks of orthognathic surgery include pain, swelling, bleeding, infection and adverse reaction to anaesthesia. Recovery time at home is needed afterwards, and any hospital stay is part of the hospital admission arranged for your surgery. Post Jaw Surgery Orthodontic Treatment
Following recovery from corrective jaw surgery, the treatment plan continues with orthodontic treatment to ensure that your aligned jaws has thea proper occlusion bite.
Braces or clear aligners are worn to complete the final steps. The various types of orthodontic braces options would have been pre-discussed during your initial treatment planning stage. Upon completion of orthodontic braces, retainers are worn to keep bite and teeth positioning in place.
