Frequently asked questions

Type your question, or follow the steps below — from booking to after treatment.

1Before you book

What are your opening hours?

We are open every day from 09:00 to 20:00 (Thailand time), except 31 December, 1 January and 13–15 April.

How do I book an appointment?

Use the appointment form, message us on WhatsApp or LINE, or call +66 53 200 201. A coordinator confirms the date and time with you. For implants or other treatment that needs several visits, contact us before you book your flights so we can plan the visits around your travel dates.

What happens at my first consultation, and what does it cost?

Your dentist examines your teeth, explains what they find, and talks you through your treatment options and an estimate, so you can decide with all the information in front of you. The first visit has a consultation and sterilisation fee, shown on our prices page. X-rays are added only if your dentist needs them to plan your care.

What dental specialties do you have?

Our dentists include specialists with postgraduate training in implant dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics (root canal), periodontics (gums), orthodontics and oral surgery. Complex cases are planned together by the dentists involved, within the clinic. We do not currently have a paediatric dental specialist.

Can I choose my dentist?

Yes. You can ask for a particular dentist, as long as they treat the kind of care you need — some of our dentists focus on specific fields, so not every dentist provides every treatment. Our coordinators will suggest the right dentist for your treatment.

Can I walk in without an appointment?

Yes, you are welcome to walk in, but we cannot always promise a free slot on the day. We recommend contacting us first so we can check the schedule and save you waiting.

Can I reschedule or cancel my appointment?

Yes. Please let us know as early as you can by WhatsApp, LINE, email or phone, so we can offer the time to another patient and find a new time that suits you.

What should I do if I have dental pain or an emergency?

Call us, or message us by WhatsApp, LINE or email, and tell us your symptoms. Our team will do their best to find a time that suits how urgent your problem is, including the same day when possible.

Is the clinic accredited, and how do you control infection?

Yes. Kitcha Dental Clinic passed the TDCA 2403 (Level 3) assessment of the Thai Dental Clinic Accreditation in April 2026. Instruments are sterilised in an autoclave. As part of infection control, the clinic also uses reverse-osmosis water, HEPA filtration, UV air systems and air purifiers.

What equipment do you use for diagnosis and treatment?

The clinic uses 3D CBCT imaging, TRIOS intraoral scanning, a dental microscope, digital CAD/CAM and 3D printing, and the BIOLASE Waterlase iPlus dental laser. Computer-guided implant surgery is available for suitable cases. Your dentist decides which tools your treatment needs.

2Planning from abroad

Do you have English-speaking staff?

Yes. Our international patient coordinators speak English and Thai. They help you book, explain your treatment plan and answer questions about your stay. All our dentists can explain your treatment in English, and a coordinator can help if anything is unclear.

Where is the clinic?

Kitcha Dental Clinic is at 7/2-3 Changloa Road, Haiya, Muang, Chiang Mai 50100 — opposite Chiang Mai Gate, near the Saturday Walking Street.

How can I contact you before I travel?

Message us on WhatsApp (+66 91 797 7888) or LINE (@kitchaclinic), email [email protected], call +66 53 200 201, or use the appointment form. A coordinator replies and can arrange a consultation with a dentist before you travel.

How long do I need to stay in Chiang Mai?

It depends on your treatment. Fillings, cleaning and most root canal treatments can be done during a short stay. Crowns and bridges are made by our ISO-certified partner laboratory in about 3–7 days, and veneers in about 7–10 days. Dental implants are placed first and restored after the bone has healed, so they normally need two trips. Your dentist gives you a visit plan after the examination.

Can I send my X-rays or photos before I travel?

Yes. You can send recent X-rays, scans or photos by email, WhatsApp, LINE or Messenger. Your dentist reviews them and gives you an initial idea of the treatment and estimate, which helps you plan your trip. The final plan is always confirmed after an examination in person, because some things can only be checked in the mouth.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Please bring your passport or ID card for registration, a list of the medicines you take, and any records you have: previous dental treatment, X-rays, and results for medical conditions you are being treated for.

How long should I plan for dental implants or All-on-4?

Plan two trips. The first trip, for examination, CBCT scan and implant surgery, usually takes about 1–2 weeks. The second trip, for the final teeth, is usually 2–6 months later, after the bone has healed around the implants, and takes about 1–2 weeks. Bone grafting or a sinus lift can lengthen the healing time. With All-on-4 / All-on-6, fixed temporary teeth can often be fitted on the day of surgery or shortly after, if the implants are stable enough. Your dentist confirms the timeline after the CBCT scan.

3Treatments

Which dental implant brands do you use?

Straumann (Roxolid SLA, Roxolid SLActive and BLX), Dentium, and the Neodent Zi ceramic (zirconia) implant for suitable cases. Your dentist recommends a system after checking your bone with a 3D CBCT scan.

What is All-on-4 / All-on-6?

All-on-4 and All-on-6 replace a full arch of teeth with a fixed bridge held by four or six implants. The bridge is fixed in place and can only be removed by your dentist. It often needs fewer implants and less bone grafting than placing an implant for every tooth, so treatment can be shorter.

What are the options for replacing missing teeth?

Dental implants look and work most like natural teeth, but need surgery, enough bone and several months to complete. A bridge is fixed to the neighbouring teeth, which usually need to be reshaped. A removable denture is the least invasive option and costs less. Your dentist explains which options suit you after an examination.

What is the difference between Invisalign and metal braces?

Metal braces are fixed to the teeth and need regular adjustment visits. Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners that must be worn 20–22 hours a day. Your orthodontist recommends the option that suits your bite.

What types of crowns do you make?

Crowns can be made in zirconia, all-ceramic, porcelain fused to metal, or full metal, including digital CAD/CAM crowns. Your dentist recommends a material based on where the tooth is, how you bite, and how it should look. Prices for each type are on our prices page.

What types of dentures do you offer?

We make complete and partial removable dentures, including flexible dentures and metal-framework (cobalt-chrome) partial dentures, as well as digital dentures. We also repair, reline and rebase existing dentures. For a fixed option, implants can support a bridge or a full arch.

What are veneers and who are they for?

Veneers are thin porcelain or composite layers bonded to the front of teeth. They can improve teeth that are discoloured, chipped, slightly misshapen or have small gaps. We keep tooth preparation as minimal as possible, but porcelain veneers usually need a thin layer of enamel to be removed, which cannot be reversed. For crooked teeth, orthodontic treatment may be the better option.

How long does teeth whitening take, and how much does it cost?

In-office Philips Zoom whitening takes about 1–1.5 hours. Home whitening uses custom-made trays and gel that you wear at home. Prices for both are on our prices page. Your dentist checks your teeth first; whitening does not change the colour of existing crowns, veneers or fillings.

How can I fix yellow teeth or bad breath?

Yellow teeth: your dentist first checks the cause. Surface stains are often removed by professional cleaning; whitening can lighten natural tooth colour. Veneers or crowns are considered only when whitening cannot give the result you want. Bad breath: most cases come from the mouth — plaque, tartar, gum disease, cavities or the tongue — and are treated with professional cleaning, gum treatment and home care. If the cause is not in the mouth, we will advise you to see a doctor.

When do I need root canal treatment?

Root canal treatment may be needed when decay, a crack or an injury has reached the pulp (the nerve and blood vessels inside the tooth). Signs can include lingering pain to hot or cold, pain on biting, a swollen gum or face, a gum boil, or a tooth that darkens. Your dentist confirms the diagnosis with pulp tests and an X-ray.

Does wisdom tooth removal hurt? How long does it take?

The area is numbed with local anaesthesia before surgery, and most patients feel pressure rather than sharp pain during the procedure — tell your dentist if you feel anything sharp. Some pain and swelling for a few days afterwards is common, and your dentist will advise on pain relief. Surgery usually takes about 30–60 minutes, depending on the position of the tooth.

Do you offer sedation for nervous patients?

Yes. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) inhalation sedation is available, charged by time. Oral sedation — an anti-anxiety tablet taken before treatment — is also available; if you have it, an adult must come with you and you must not drive afterwards. Your dentist decides which option is suitable after checking your health. Treatment under general anaesthesia is not done at the clinic and is referred to a hospital.

Do you see children? What age is the first visit?

Yes. Our dentists see children for check-ups, cleaning, fluoride, sealants, fillings and baby-tooth extractions, and adjust each visit to the child's age. A first visit by age one, or within six months of the first tooth, is recommended. Early (interceptive) orthodontic assessment is available. If your child needs care that is better provided by a paediatric specialist, we will tell you and help arrange it.

Do cavities in baby teeth need treatment?

Yes, they should be checked by a dentist. Baby teeth hold space for the adult teeth, and untreated decay can cause pain and infection. Many cavities need a filling; small early ones can sometimes be stopped with fluoride and better home care. Your dentist will advise which applies to your child.

Do you treat snoring, sleep apnoea or jaw (TMD) problems?

Yes. After assessment — and referral to a doctor where needed — we provide oral appliances (mandibular advancement devices) for snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea, and assessment and splints for jaw joint (TMD) problems and teeth grinding.

4Paying and insurance

How much does a dental implant cost?

The price depends on the implant system you choose — Dentium, Straumann or Neodent Zi ceramic. Current prices for each package are on our prices page. Each package includes the implant, a standard abutment and a zirconia crown. Bone grafting, sinus lift, special abutments and CBCT scans are charged separately, only if you need them.

How much do All-on-4 and All-on-6 cost?

All-on-4 and All-on-6 are one price per jaw, with a hybrid full-arch acrylic bridge. You can upgrade to a zirconia full-arch bridge for an additional fee. Both prices are on our prices page. Your dentist decides between four and six implants after a CBCT scan and examination.

How much does teeth cleaning cost?

It depends on the type of cleaning. Scaling and polishing is priced by the amount of tartar. Scaling and root planing for gum disease is priced per visit, and the number of visits depends on your gum assessment. Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) is also available. Current prices are on our prices page.

What is included in the price?

Each treatment price covers the procedure itself. X-rays, medicines and the consultation and sterilisation fee are listed separately, so you pay only for what your treatment actually needs. Implant packages include the implant, a standard abutment and a zirconia crown.

Will the final cost match my estimate?

Estimates help you plan. Your dentist confirms the plan and fee after an examination. If the plan has to change during treatment to suit your clinical condition, the fee is based on the procedures actually performed.

How can I pay?

We accept Thai baht cash, credit cards (including American Express), Thai QR PromptPay, PayPal, Alipay and bank transfer.

When do I pay, and do you give refunds?

Dental implants: a deposit is required before surgery, and the surgical fee is paid in full on the day of surgery. Inlays, onlays, veneers, crowns, bridges and dentures: full payment is due on the day of preparation or impression. Kitcha Dental Clinic does not offer refunds for completed procedures.

Can you bill my insurance directly?

Direct billing is available for eligible Cigna, Allianz, International SOS and April patients, after benefit verification and pre-authorization. For other insurers, we provide itemised receipts and medical certificates in English so you can claim. Please contact us before your visit so we can check your cover.

Do you accept Thai Social Security?

The clinic no longer offers direct billing for Social Security dental benefits. You pay at the clinic and claim the benefit yourself; we provide the itemised receipt and medical certificate you need.

5After treatment

Is there a warranty?

Dental lab work and implant components are covered by a one-year local warranty at our clinic in Chiang Mai. It covers treatment done at our clinic only, and does not include travel, accommodation or treatment provided elsewhere.

What if I have a problem after I go home?

Message us on WhatsApp or LINE with a photo and a short description. Your dentist will advise you, and if the work is covered by the warranty it is handled at the clinic in Chiang Mai.

How should I care for my dental implants after surgery?

For the first days, eat soft food, use a cold compress to reduce swelling and take medicines as prescribed. Do not smoke for at least one week before and after surgery, and avoid rinsing or spitting forcefully for the first 24 hours. Afterwards, clean around the implants every day and come for check-ups every 3–6 months.

What should I do after a tooth extraction?

Bite firmly on the gauze for the time your dentist advises. For the first 24 hours, do not rinse forcefully, spit or drink through a straw, so the blood clot can stay in place. Avoid smoking and alcohol for at least 72 hours, and choose soft, cool food for the first few days. From the next day, rinse gently with warm salt water. Contact us if bleeding continues for more than 2 hours despite pressure, or if pain gets worse after 2–3 days.
