Patient Instruction Sinus Lift Surgery

1. General information

Sinus lift surgery is a procedure to add bone to the upper jaw in order to support dental implants. The dentist will open the gums and lift the sinus membrane.

2. Purpose of the Procedure/Treatment

  • To support dental implants, when there is insufficient bone in the jaw for implant placement, sinus lift surgery adds bone to the sinus cavity above the desired implant area, ensuring adequate bone for implant support.
  • To preserve the gum ridge, losing teeth, especially molars, can lead to jawbone resorption. Sinus lift surgery helps prevent bone loss and maintains the shape of the gum ridge.
  • To restore chewing function and boost confidence.
